Abstract:Objective To seek one method to treat the tibia fracture with multiple fragments or segments and interfragment separation and inversion. Methods The fibula fracture was anatomically reduced and fixed, then the alignment of the tibia axis was regained and the fracture was bonded by stainless steel wire, in order to treat tibia fracture with multiple fragments or segments and interfragment separation and inversion in 54 cases. Results 29 cases regained the function and 25 was anatomically reduced. Of 53 followed up cases within one to 6 years, 34 showed excellent, 18 better and 1 worse response. Conclusion This way is suitable to tibia fracture with multiple fragments or segments and interfragment separation and inversion and with long segment of fracture which can not be fixed by a plate. During the whole treatment, anatomical reduction is the first important to fix fibula fracture, which is key to the treatment.
Keywords:Comminuted fracture  Tibia  Internal fixation  Fibula
