Analysis of adverse reactions in the process of autologous blood collection and related countermeasures

Objective To reduce the incidence of adverse reactions on autologous blood collection before surgery so as to help patients get over the pre-surgery period. Methods Autologous blood collection for pre-storage was made in patients, who were to undergo a surgery and were in conformity of indications. Cases of adverse reactions that occurred in the process of blood collection were collected and analyzed and related nursing methods were proposed. Results From 2002 to 2008, our hospital performed a total of 597 man/time blood collections, of which 34 cases （87 man/time） had various adverse reactions, which might result from psychological factors, physical status of the patients, as well as technology-related puncture by the medical personnel. Conclusion Medical personnel should be familiar with the causes and clinical manifestations of adverse reactions resulted from autologous blood collection, and take ef- fective measures to reduce the incidence of adverse reactions, so as to help patients get over the pre-surgery period smoothly.
