Observation on the efficacy of toric IOL and capsular tension ring implantation in high myopia cataract with astigmatism

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of phacoemulsification,capsular tension ring and toric IOL implantation in patients with high myopia and cataract accompanied by corneal astigmatism as well as the rotation stability of the intraocular lens.Methods This was a retrospective study.From Nov.2016 to Mar.2020,31 eyes of 21 cases of high myopia with concomitant regular corneal astigmatism>1.50 D and cataract were collected in Xin Shijie Eye Hospital in Shanghai.All patients received phacoemulsification,toric IOL and capsular tension ring implantation.The visual acuity,intraocular lens rotation and residual astigmatism were observed after operation.Results At 3 months after surgery,UCVA and BCVA were significantly higher than those before surgery(P<0.05).The mean astigmatism decreased from(2.42±0.67)D before surgery to(0.22±0.22)D after surgery(t=18.38,P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference between the estimated residual astigmatism and the actual residual astigmatism(t=-1.95,P=0.06).The toric IOL rotation at 3 months after surgery was 0.94°±1.15°.Conclusion Toric IOL and capsular tension ring implantation can effectively correct corneal astigmatism in patients with high myopia and cataract,with good predictability and rotation stability of intraocular lens.
