| Abstract: | Forty-two patients with ventricular tachycardia (VT) with perfect clinical data admitted from 1976 to 1987 were analysed. The commonest cause in this group of Vt was coronary heart disease (42.8%). The precipitating factors of VT were heart failiure, coronary ischemia and severe hypokalemia. Of the 32 cases first receiving lidocaine combined with potassium chloride, 24 cases were successfully controlled, 8 cases were falied. Among the 8 cases, 3 were cured with electrical cardioversion, 5 died of ventricular fibrillation. Another 7 cases were cured with mexiletine, propranolol and potassium chloride. Two cases of torsades pointes were cured with isoprenaline. Another one was cured with lidocaine. 2b cases recovered from VT had been followed up for 3-11 years. The results of survival and mortalith in this group were 50% respectively. The prognosis of VT in organic heart diseases was poor. However the functional heart disorders were quite optimistic. |
