Abstract:The authors studied the association between APOE-epsilon4 genotype and axis I and II psychiatric disorders an average of 30 years after traumatic brain injury. Sixty patients were dichotomized into subjects with and without APOE-epsilon4 allele. Dementia and subclinical dementia were significantly more common with the presence of APOE-epsilon4. The occurrence of other psychiatric disorders did not differ between patients with and without APOE-epsilon4 allele.
