Stem cell for the treatment of stress urinary incontinence

Stress urinary incontinence(SUI) is highly prevalent in females.As of now,the long-term and low invasive treatment is still not available.Adult stem cells have many irreplaceable advantages and the ability to self-renew and to differentiate into other cell types.In the past few years,in vivo studies have described the use of stem cells transplanted into the site of the rhabdosphincter in patients with stress urinary incontinence that may produce sphincter regeneration.Transplanted cells may also release factors to promote nerve and muscle regeneration.We review the use of stem cell therapy for SUI.
