Effect of clove wei ling mixture on the quantities of gastrin and somatostatin in serum and expression of bax of mucosa in rats with chronic atrophic gastritis

[Objective] To observe the protective effects of clove wei ling mixture(CWLM) on the mucosa of chronic atrophic gastritis in rats.[Methods] Sixty Wistar rats were randomly divided into normal control group,chronic atrophic gastritis(CAG) group,CWLM low-dose group,CWLM middle-dose group and CWLM high-dose Group.CAG model was established in Wistar rats by synthetical method:sodium salicylate was given every day orally,free drink ammonia,with irregular diet animal model for 8 weeks,and the normal control rats were given normal saline.Drug intervention began after being made model 2 months,CAG rats were treated with CWLM 16g/kg d,8g/kg d and 4g/kg d,respectively.After 50 days,all the rats were anesthetized and the levels of Gas and SS in sera were measured with ELISA and Bax expression in gastric mucosa was detected with immunohistochemistry.[Results] Compared to normal control group,the level of SS in the CAG group was significantly higher,but the level of Gas and the expression of Bax were significantly lower(P<0.01).Compared to CAG group,the level of SS was lower,but the level of Gas and the expression of Bax in three treatment groups were higher significantly(P<0.01 or P<0.05).[Conclusion] CWLM has beneficial effect for treatment of CAG in rats,which maybe related to increasing of Gas and Bax with decreasing of SS.
