| Abstract: | Objective To explore the compassion fatigue experiences of emergency nurses,analyze relevant factors and outcomes,and put forward targeted coping strategies.Methods Maximum difference sampling was adopted,and 11 emergency nurses from three tertiary hospitals in Shanghai City were enrolled for semi-structured individual interviews from May 2019 to January 2020.Colaizzi’s analysis method was employed to analyze the data.Results Four themes were extracted from the analyzed data,including complexity and diversity of compassion fatigue experiences,diverse factors associated with compassion fatigue,adverse influences of compassion fatigue,multiple strategies to cope with compassion fatigue,with a total of twelve clusters.Conclusions Compassion fatigue of emergency nurses are related with many factors.Its outcomes may influence emergency nurses’working and life.Hospitals and nursing managers should provide multi-dimensional support strategies to cope with the emergency nurses’compassion fatigue. |
