Analysis on the Current Status and the Related Factors for the Prevalence of the Poor Vision among Primary and Secondary School Students in Nantong City

OBJECTIVE To analyze epidemic status and influencing factors for the poor vision of the primary and secondary school students in Nantong city,so as to provide the scientific basis for the targeted myopia prevention strategies.METHODS A total of 2568 students were selected from 17 schools in Nantong city by stratified cluster random sampling.The visual examination and questionnaires were carried out.RESULTS The overall prevalence of poor vision among the 2568 students was 82.09%.With the school ages rising,the severity of poor vision gradually increased(χ^2trend=156.713,P<0.001).Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that female(OR=1.518,95%CI:1.222-1.885),junior high school and above(OR=3.712,95%CI:2.866-4.808),eating desserts one time and more per week were risk factors for poor vision.Physical education class over five times a week was the protective factor(OR=0.399,95%CI:0.160~0.994).CONCLUSION The rate of poor vision among the primary and secondary school students in Nantong city was severe.There were multifarious factors related to poor vision.Much more comprehensive measures should be taken to prevent poor vision.
