Treatment of fractures of the femoral shaft with early cast bracing

This study describes experience in the treatment of fractures of the femoral shaft by early weight bearing in a cast brace, at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. During 1977–1979, 117 fractures of the femoral shaft were treated. The average time for fracture healing was 15 weeks and 96 per cent of the fractures had overall satisfactory results.
