Abstract:Objective: To study the possible association between hepatitis A virus (HAV) infection and coronary artery disease (CAD) and the possible mechanism of inflammation in CAD. Methods: Anti-HAV IgG antibody and C-reactive protein were detected from 107 patients undergoing coronary artery disease. Results: HAV-seropositive rate was 75.7% in CAD patients, and it was significantly higher than non-CAD patients(37.3%) and the normal control group (51.0%), and CRP levels were significantly higher in CAD patients than the control group, and it was not significantly changed in CAD patients and non-CAD patients, CRP levels postive rate in CAD patients (55.1%) were significantly higher than the control group (15.0%) and non-CAD patients (30.5 %). Conclusions: HAV infection may associated with CAD, and HAV may play a causal role in atherogenesis.
Keywords:coronary artery disease  HAV-IgG antibody  C-reactive protein
