Comparative Study on Effects of Ziprasidone Injection and Chlorpromazine in the Treatment of Acute Symptom of Schizophrenia

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy and adverse reaction of Ziprasidone injection for acute symptoms of schizophrenia.Methods A total of 66 cases of schizophrenia patients according with CCMD-3 schizophrenia diagnostic criteria in our hospital from October 2008 to May 2009,whose BPRS scores ≥36,PANSS scores ≥60,TESS scores ≤1,and families agreement were enrolled and randomly divided into groups.The patients were administered Ziprasidone intravenous injection 5~40mg or Chlorpromazine injection 50~100mg daily for 3 days.Results The scores of two groups before and after treatment were significantly different（t=2.2~4.1,P0.05 or 0.01）,and in the end of treatment,the scale total score of BPRS and PANSS and each factor scores was no significant difference（P0.05）.The adverse reactions of Ziprasidone group were less than those of Chlorpromazine group by TESS rating scale.Most of the projects by the χ2 test were significant（P0.05 or 0.01）.Conclusion Ziprasidone injection has significant effect on symptoms of schizophrenia with acute agitation,and its side effects were less than Chlorpromazine.
