Internet Usage and Internet Addiction Status of Adolescents in Shanxi Province

Objective To explore internet usage and addiction condition of the students aged 12～24 in Shaanxi Province.Methods General Self-compiled Questionnaire,Internet Addiction Scale and Internet Survey Questionnaire of Adolescent were offered to 6016 youth in ten cities and a region of Shaanxi Province.Results ①The ratio of young people with severe,moderate and mild net addiction were 0.5%,3.5% and 8.5.②Internet addiction scores was made as dependent variable,and the multiple analysis of variance results showed that the main effect of gender was significant（F（1,6008）=85.15,P0.01）.Academic performance had significant main effect（F（3,6008）=25.72,P0.01）.Interaction between them was not obvious.③Internet addiction scores had significant correlation with the degree of family harmony,academic performance,online time and interpersonal situation.The coefficients were-0.194,-0.263,-0.261 and-0.340.Lower scores indicated heavier internet addiction.Conclusion The overall state of internet usage of adolescents in Shaanxi Province is good.Internet addiction intervention towards young people can begin with the degree of family harmony and the guidance on internet usage and communication.
