Effects of rotator cuff suture anchor fixation on avulsion fracture of the anterior cruciate ligament

Objective To evaluate the effect of rotator cuff suture anchor fixation on avulsion fracture of the anterior cruciate ligament.Methods Clinical data of 26 patients with tibial eminence avulsion fracture of the anterior cruciate ligament were retrospectively analyzed from January 2015 to January 2017,including 15 males and11 females with an average age of (34.3±10.1) years (range:17-61 years).Preoperative and postoperative knee Lysholm,International Knee Literature Committee (IKDC) score and visual analogue scale (VAS) were analyzed by statistical software SPSS 17.0.Results All 26 patients were followed up for 24-48 months (mean:35.7±7.4 months).All tibial intercondylar eminence fractures were reduced and healed well with an average healing time of (2.4±0.5) months (range:2-3 months).The average maximum knee flexion range of motion was (124.3±5.6) ° except for 1 patient without regular knee exercises based on rehabilitation plan (110° 44 months after surgery).Statistically significant differences were presented in VAS preoperatively (7.8±1.0) and 1 week postoperatively (1.9±0.9)(t=24.1,P < 0.001).No pain in the affected knee was observed at the last follow-up.Significant differences were shown in Lysholm[(92.0±1.7) vs.(44.5±3.2),t=70.756,P < 0.001]and IKDC[(93.0±2.1) vs.(46.2±3.4),t=70.948,P < 0.001]postoperatively and preoperatively.Pivot shift test showed negative results at the last follow-up,including 2 cases of Lachman test positive degree Ⅰ.Conclusions Arthroscopic rotator cuff suture anchor fixation achieves good effects with less trauma,satisfactory tibial intercondylar eminence bone healing and patients’ feedback,which is worthy of clinical promotion.
