| Abstract: | Temporomandibular osteoarthritis(TMJOA)is a severe form of temporomandibular disorder(TMD).Articular cartilage degeneration is one of the most typical pathological features in primary TMJOA,and chondrocyte death is the core event in cartilage degeneration.Compared with apoptosis and autophagy,the release of damage associated molecular patterns(DAMPs)after the occurrence of necroptosis,which is a new type of cell death,do further harm to chondrocytes and cartilage extracellular matrix.The TNF-α-Necroptosis-DAMPs-TNF-αvicious circle may result in extensive destruction to cartilage.Therefore,this article briefly reviews related researches on necroptosis in cartilage degeneration of OA in order to provide new understanding concerning the pathogenesis of TMJOA. |
