| Abstract: | Objective To investigate the change of resistance ofPseudomonas aeruginosa （PA） to carbapenems for rational usage of antimicrobial from 2008 to 2009. Methods The strains tested were chosen from 2851 strains of bacterium, which were separated from clinical specimen from Jan 2008 to Dec 2009. Antimicrobial sensitivity tests were made for carbapenems. Results Resistance rate of imipenem was 39.71%, and meropenem was 31.86%. In 2008, the resistant rate of imipenem was 43.95%, while in 2009, it increased to 35.74%（P〈0.01）. In 2008, the resistant rate of meropenem was 34.60%, while in 2005, it increased to 29.50%（P〈0.01）. Conclusion The resistance of PA to carbapenems is high. Antimicrobial treatment of PA infections should be guided by antimicrobial sensitivity test. The clinical usage of carbapenems has been obviously controlled. |
