The effects of combined therapy of prostaglandin E1 and continuous veno venous hemofiltration on renal function in patients with acute renal failure

Objective To investigate the effects of combined therapy of prostaglandin E1 and continuous veno venous hemofiltration (CVVH) on renal function in patients with acute renal failure.Methods A total of sixty patients with acute renal failure were randomly divided into prostaglandin E1 group ( n = 30) and CVVH group ( n = 30).All of the two groups were received CVVH therapy for seven days,but the prostaglandin E1 group was treated by prostaglandin E1 in addition.Blood uric acid,blood urea nitrogen,blood creatinine,creatinine clearance,urinary output and APACHE Ⅱ score were recorded 3 and 7 days after treatment.Results Blood creatinine,blood urea nitrogen,blood uric acid,APACHE Ⅱ score were decreased remarkably in the both groups,while urinary output and creatinine clearance were increased significantly at 7 days after treatment in CVVH group and at 3 and 7 days after treatment in prostaglandin E1 group as against before treatment ( P ＜ 0.05).These changes were more significant in prostaglandin E1 group ( P ＜ 0.05).Conclusion The combined therapy of prostaglandin E1 and CVVH can obviously dilate renal blood vessels and sigifnicantly improve renal hemodynamic with great protection effect on kidney.
