Protective Effect of Regional Intra-arterial Infusion with Somatostatin on Lung Injury of Rats with Severe Acute Pancreatitis

[Objective] To explore the protective effect of regional intra-arterial infusion（RAI） with somatostatin on lung injury of rats with severe acute pancreatitis（SAP） and its mechanism. [Methods] Totally 64 SD rats were randomly divided into sham operation group（group A）, SAP group（group B） and group of peripheral vein infusion of somatostatin（group C）, group of RAI of somatostatin（groupD）. Serum amylase（Amy）, interleukin-1（IL-1）, interleukin-6（IL-6） and tumor necrosis factor-alpha （TNF-α） in blood of each group were measured. The pathological change of lung was observed. [Results]After the establishment of SAP model, the levels of Amy, IL-1, IL-6 and TNF-α in each group increased obviously, and lung injury was serious. After treatment, the levels of Amy, IL-1, IL- 6 and TNF-α in group C and group D decreased, and those in group D declined more obviously. Moreover, the severity of lung pathological injury in group C and group D was reduced significantly（ P 〈0.05）, and that in group D decreased more obviously（ P〈0. 05）. [Conclusion] Somatostatin can alleviate SAP induced lung injury, which the mechanism may be related with the decreasing of the levels of blood IL-1, IL-6 and TNF-α. RAI is one of the means of improving the therapeutic effect of drugs against SAP.
