Influence of Small Dose Aspirin on Blood Uric Acid in Elderly

[Objective] To observe the influence of long-time small dose aspirin on blood uric acid in elderly. [Methods] Totally 80 elderly patients were randomly divided into 2 groups. The observation group（ n = 42） was given small dose aspirin enteric-coated tablets 100mg/d for a year based on the regular treatment of basic disease. The control group（ n =38） only received regular treatment of basic disease but no aspirin enteric-coated tablets. Blood uric acid level was recorded before and after therapy respectively. [Results] Compared with the control group, blood uric acid level and the incidence of hyperuricemia in the observation group in creased markedly（ P 〈0.05）. [Conclusion] Long-time small dose aspirin may result in hyperuricemia in elderly. Preventive measure should be taken.
