Application of laparoscope in radical resection for colorectal cancer

Objective -To study the clin-ical value of the laparoscope in radical resection for colo- rectal cancer. Methods The clinical data of 31 patients with colorectal cancer receiving laparoscope colorectomy were analyzed retrospectively. Results Only one case was converted to open surgery. In 30 cases receiving laparoscopic operation, 8 cases were subjected to right hemicolorectomy, 4 cases to left hemicolorectomy, 5 cases to sigmoid colorectomy, 8 cases to rectal anterior resection, and 6 cases to Miles operation. The average operative time was 150-300 min, the average intraoperative blood loss was 30-200 mL, intestinal function was restored in 1-5 days, and mean hospital stay was 7-12 days. There were no operative complications such as postoperative bleeding and wound infection, but 2 cases had anastomotic leak. The follow up period ranged from 1 to 48 months. There was one death. Conclu- sion The Iaparoscopic radical colorectomy for colorectal cancer is safe, effective and minimally inva- sive.
