Abstract: | Over the past twenty years, our research group has been involved in the phytochemical study of terpenoids from Compositae plants. From seven species, namely, Erigeron annuus (L.) PERS., Erigeron philadelphicus L., Erigeron sumatrensis RETZ., Ligularia dentata HARA, Ligularia stenocephala MATSUM. et KOIDZ., Petasites japonicus MAXIM., and Tussilago farfara L., we isolated 83 new compounds. In this review, structural features of 19 eremophilane-type sesquiterpenoids from rhizomes of P. japonicus and 9 bisabolane-type sesquiterpenoids from roots of L. dentata are discussed. |
