Abstract: | This study aims to show mothers' and health professionals' conceptions and perceptions related to their participation in the Child Malnutrition Program. Thus, we particularly explore the mothers' participation, as a means of making them aware of the individual and social reality and their decisions about it. Our analysis of the maternal participation process is guided by Imogene King's conceptual framework. This study was conducted in Crato, Ceará State, Brazil. Study participants were mothers and professionals. We used semi-structured interviews and adopted Bardin's Content Analysis for organizing and analyzing the collected data. This study did not find evidence of strategies for the conscious participation of social actors in the child malnutrition program. |
