Abstract:Objective To study the relationship between I/D polymorphism of ACE gene and cerebrovasular diseases. Methods I/D polymorphism of ACE gene was analysed in 100 cerebrovascular patients and 100 normal people by polymerase chain reaction (PCR).Results The frequency of DD genotype of angiotension-convertion enzyme (ACE) in cerebral hemorrhage group (34.4%) was significantly higher than that in control group (16.0%) ( P<0.05), and the frequency of DD genotype was higher in the patients of cerebrovasular disease with essential hypertension than the patients without essential hypertension ( P<0.05). It was also higher in the patients with glycemia than the patients with euglycemia ( P<0.05). Moreover, the frequency of DD genotype and D alleles in abnormity group were significantly higher than those in normal group of cholesterol and high-density lipoprotein ( P<0.05).Conclusions The DD genotype is the high risk factor of cerebral hemorrhage. DD genotype and D alleles are associataed with the high risk factors of cerebrovascular disease such as essential hypertension, blood sugar, cholesterol and high-density lipoprotein.
Keywords:ACE  gene polymorphism  cerebrovascular disease
