| Abstract: | Summary Electron microscopic observations on the perineurium in EAN are described. Extravasated serum protein was observed in the endoneurial space and also between the cellular laminae of the perineurium. A mechanism of macropinocytotic transport of protein across the perineurium is proposed. The observations are related to the known properties of the perineurium as a diffusion barrier and are interpreted as a mechanism by the perineurium to restore the composition of the endoneurial fluid. |
