Abstract:Two measures of facial asymmetry (preferred eye winking and eyebrow raising facility) were taken for 255 subjects. As predicted, males displayed significantly greater left-side facial asymmetry than did females, although the sex differences were not great. The findings lend support to prior research suggesting hemispheric asymmetry in the control of emotional expression.
