Abstract: | Of 108 cases of artcriovenous malformation(AVM) treated by microsurgery, there were 5 cases(4.6%) of AVM of the corpus callosum, 2 in theanterior, 2 in the middle and l in the posterior por-tions. All of them were subjected to direct surgery,3 having total excision, 1 partial excision supplc-mented by ligation of feeding artcry, and I ligationof feeding arteries alone. Postoperative angiographyshowed complete disappearance of the AVMs in allcases. Follow-up for 3-5 years found all of thepatients were living and well, 4 had resumed theiroriginal work and l could take care of himself.Judging from the low morbidity and mortality withit, we consider that surgical treatment warrants pop-ularization. |
