THE EFFECTIVENESS OF RADIOFREQUENCY ABLATION FOR THE TREATMENT OF LIVER CANCER

Objective To evaluate the effects and complication of image guided radio frequency ablation(RFA)on Primary Hepatic Carcinoma(PHC).Methods The clinical data of 85 patients by follow-up visit with Primary Hepatic Carcinoma who select percutaneous RFA as the initial intensive phase treatment between June 2006 and June 2009 were analyzed retrospectively.The data of 103 patients by followed-up visit treated by surgical operation and the diameter of tumor<5 cm is the control group in the same time.Results In the RFA group,85 patients,106 tumors were successful ablated.In the RFA group of patients,the 1,2,3-year overall survival rate was 88.69%、59.68%、38.79%;In the first year 7 patients,tumors advanced in part and 9 patients appeared serious complications.In operation group serious complications happened 40 times and 15 patients appeared neoplasm recurrence or metastasis in the first year; the 1,2,3-year overall survival rate was 91.86%、72.13%、35.18%.Conclusion RFA treatment is effective for inoperable liver cancer,and the complications are low,so it is an effective and safety treatment for liver cancer.
