Abstract: | This article reviews progress in the United States towards implementing the concept of diagnosis related group reimbursement for hospital admissions. Although the basis of payments to public hospitals in Australia differs significantly from the basis of funding of hospitals in the United States, this article argues there is value in exploring further the possibility of introducing diagnosis related reimbursement in Australia. |
