Abstract:Objective To study the effect of swallowing gymnastics and ice stimulation on the improvement of swallowing function in patients with severe craniocerebral injury. Methods 93 patients with dysphagia after severe craniocerebral injury admitted to the neurosurgery department of the hospital from August 2017 to December 2019 were included in the study. By random method, 45 cases were divided into the combined group and 48 cases in the conventional group. Routine nursing and health education were carried out in the conventional group, and swallowing gymnastics and ice stimulation intervention were added into the combined group. The differences of swallowing function recovery, satisfaction degree and quality of life before and after intervention were analyzed. Results The total effective rate of swallowing function recovery in the combined group was higher than that of the conventional group (P<0.05). Standardized swallowing assessment(SSA) scores of both groups were lower after intervention than before, and those of the combined group were lower than those of the conventional group (all P<0.05). The satisfaction of the combined group was higher than that of the conventional group (P<0.05). After intervention, the swallowing quality of life questionnaire(SWAL-QOL) scores of the combined group were higher than those of the conventional group (all P<0.05). Conclusions Swallowing gymnastics combined with ice stimulation can improve the swallowing function of patients with severe craniocerebral injury, and can improve the patients satisfaction and quality of life.
