The Role of Community in the Informed Consent

This article discussed the role of community in the process of informed consent. The challenges to traditional model of informed consent are from communitarians, feminists and the contemporary Confucian philosopher. The definition and characteristics, types of community were also discussed. Two types of community, the original living community and circumstances community according to the Benefit Sharing Statement of the human genome organization committee were analyzed. The author expounded the community engagement in the process of informed consent and its situation and meaning. At last, this paper introduced the debate on ＂Community Consent＂ and informed consent in non -western culture community.
