Abstract:Cestodes are parasites causing parasitic diseases or infections that severely impair human health and pose a large global economic burden to humans every year.Because of their diversity and biological characteristics,tapeworms are highly harmful to animals and humans,and prevention and treatment measures against tapeworm infections remain challenging.With progress in bioinformatics and gene sequencing technology,genome sequences of tapeworms have been determined and analyzed,and their biological characteristics and gene regulation have been extensively investigated to help control taeniasis and other cestode infections,particularly human and animal taeniid infections caused by the larval stage or metacestode.This review summarizes the state of research and recent advances in cestode genome sequencing and genomics.
