| Abstract: | Abstract: Viral pathogens are important causes of morbidity following transplantation. Cytomegalovirus (CMV) and Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infections represent two major viral complications in transplant recipients. Recent advances in methodology have led to a better understanding of host immune responses directed against chronic viral infections. We review the nature of antiviral immunity involved in control of CMV and EBV. Viral mechanisms of immune evasion and immunotherapeutic strategies in the transplantation setting will also be addressed. |
