Abstract: | The authors present the case of a 63 years old patient, admitted in the Neurosurgical Department, presenting exulcerated adenoid cystic carcinoma of the right lacrimal gland. The tumor was extended medially to the superolateral part of the posterior orbit and laterally in the temporal fossa. The patient presents one and a half years history of left exophthalmos, the tumor exulcerated in the left temporal region one year ago, meantime the tumor extended in the superior half of the posterior orbit. The tumor was completely removed using superolateral orbital approach, with very good postoperative course. Complete recovery of the visual function and satisfactory aesthetic aspect was obtained, without the risks of a craniotomy. Good outcome without recurrence in the past two years. |
