Abstract: | The preciseness of the detail which can be demonstrated by multidirectional tomography makes it a useful and almost essential method of examination of congenital anomalies of the external and middle ear. Multiple examples are described which are of inestimable value to the surgeon in the diagnosis and surgical correction of anomalies of the temporal bone. Variations of the external canal, temporomandibular joint, pneumatization of the temporal bone, tegmen, tympanic cavity, ossicles, oval and round windows, jugular bulb and carotid artery and facial nerve as seen by polytomography are described. |
