Fractures of the femoral neck. A follow-up study after non-operative treatment of Garden's stage 1 and 2 fractures

Garden's stages and alignment index were applied on a series of 128 patients with femoral neck fractures either undisplaced or displaced into valgus. The displacement rates in stage 1 and 2 were respectively 11 and 61 per cent. There were significantly more displacements among patients in whom weight bearing was not allowed.
