Research Progress on Acupuncture and Moxibustion in the Treatment of Vertebral Artery Type Cervical Spondylosis

Vertebral artery type of cervical spondylosis(CSA),also known as vertebral artery compression syndrome,is a more common clinical type of cervical spondylosis,accounting for 20%-25%of all cervical spondylosis.Cervical spondylopathy of vertebral artery type is a kind of disease characterized by insufficient blood supply of base-vertebral artery due to various mechanical and dynamic factors that cause vertebral artery compression or stimulation and spasm,resulting in vascular stenosis and distortion.Patients often show neck pain,occipital pain,limited neck movement,nausea,tinnitus,deafness,and some sympathetic symptoms,such as panic or insomnia,patients often turn to head and neck in a certain position when sudden feeling of severe vertigo,unconsciousness.The incidence of this disease is higher than that of other cervical spondylosis,and it is mostly over 45 years old.The incidence rate has a parallel rising trend with the increase of age,and the symptom is also increasing with age.Acupuncture is gradually accepted by the public with its advantages of small trauma,low cost and good curative effect.In this paper,we will review the relevant research on the standard operation and exact effect of acupuncture and moxibustion in the treatment of cervical spondylosis of vertebral artery type in recent years,in order to provide some reference for the further research and development of clinical treatment.
