The suboccipital sinus and its clinical implications

The suboccipital sinus, in the suboccipital region,is similar to the cavernous sinus in embryological development and functional and pathological features,as well as transitional patterns of the arterial wall structures.This region is deep,with complicated and important anatomical structures,and can be the site of many diseases.The occipital sinus has connections with intracranial veins and vertebral vein plexus,thus play a role in accessory venous drainage from the intracranium and in metastatic spread of diseases to intracranium.All these anatomical features have important implications in clinical surgery and endovascular interventional treatment.
