Abstract: | The microbial transformation of simvastatin (MK-733) by Nocardia autotrophica subspecies amethystina yielded iso-simvastatin-6-one as a minor component. This transformation product is a dienone and is one of the more potent inhibitors of 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A reductase found to date. |
