| Abstract: | Liver biopsies from 14 patients with chronic aggressive hepatitis and 14 with primary biliary cirrhosis, all showing abnormalities of bile duct epithelium, were compared in order to evaluate a relationship between the two conditions by morphologic analysis. Despite many similarities, the two conditions are different. On morphologic grounds alone, primary biliary cirrhosis and chronic aggressive hepatitis with abnormal bile ducts can be distinguished in most cases. |
