| Abstract: | Echocardiography plays an integral role in the diagnosis and management of atrial septal defects. With percutaneous closure of secundum defects becoming widespread, transoesophageal echocardiography in particular has assumed an important role in patient selection, as well as being central to the device deployment procedure, and an important tool in patient follow up. |
