Endothelial progenitor cells are precursors of mature vascular endothelial cells,which belong to stem cell populations.More and more researchers pay close attention to the important role of endothelial progenitor cells in vascular regeneration and repair.Pulmonary hypertension is a fatal pulmonary vascular disease.The pathogenesis of pulmonary hypertension relates closely with blood vessel endothelium injury.Present studies have proved that endothelial progenitor cells play important roles in blood vessel endothelium repair of pulmonary hypertension,and transplantation of endothelial progenitor cells could be applied as an effective method for pulmonary hypertension.
