Abstract: | Complex regional pain syndrome type 1 (CRPS) comprises the symptom complex of burning nondermatomal pain, intermittent swelling and discoloration, allodynia, and abnormalities of sudomotor function. Not all patients respond to blockade of the sympathetic nervous system. In this case report we highlight 8 cases with intractable CRPS Type 1 in which the patients derived benefit from the use of lamotrigine in terms of both pain relief and relief of other symptoms. |
