Perianal pseudoepithelioma: Case report

Summary The clinical, pathogenic and microscopic characteristics of perianal pseudo-epithelioma (molluscum pseudocarcinomatosum) are described in one patient. Another case has been mentioned cursorily in the literature. Similar lesions account for one third to one half the incidence of true malignant epithelioma of the face. They have often been treated as malignant lesions because of their close similarity, yet the pseudoepithelioma is benign and disappears spontaneously. For this reason, further study and a review of perianal epitheliomas would be valuable. Read at the meeting of the Northwest Proctologic Society, Vancouver, British Columbia, August 26 to 29, 1962.
