Value of ultrsound in diagnosis of intussusception combined with intestinal necrosis

Objective To explore the imaging characteristics and diagnostic value of uhrasonography in pediatric intussusception combined with intestinal necrosis. Methods The imaging characteristics of 31 cases of pediatric intussusception combined with intestinal necrosis and 82 cases of pediatric intussusception were analyzed retrospectively. Results The thickness of external intestinal wall was （ 15.1 ± 2.4） mm in intestinal necrosis group, and （9.8 ±2.2） mm in pediatric intussusception group. The ultrasonographic demonstration of intussusception combined with necrosis included obviously thickened intestinal walls of the intussusception part, effusion in the gut and abdominal cavity, and the decreased movement of the bowel above the intussusception part as well. Intestinal necrosis occurred easily when enlarged lymph nodes and appendium were found around the intussusception. Conclusion The ultrasonic imaging of pediatric intussusception combined with necrosis has certain specificity, early diagnosis has important value in choosing treatment program.
