Abstract:The effects of Rhubarb and Salvia Miltiorrhiza on serum lipids, aortic cholestercl contentand liver LDL receptor mRNA level in experimental rats were observed. The result showed that:(1)Rhuberb significantly decreased serum TC, LDL-C and aortic cholesterol content,which might be partlyattributed to its effect on LDL clearance by LDL receptor pathway.(2) Salvia Miltiorrhiza reduced moreeffectively the cholesterol accumulation in aorta,which might be due to its inhibition of endogenouscholesterol synthesis and anti-oxidative action.
