A STUDY ON THE HISTOMORPHOLOGY OF THE END STRUCTURE OF HUMAN PATELLAR TENDON

Twenty-two patellas from 18 cadavers of different ages and sex were used in the histomorphological study on the end structure of patellar tendon. The results showed that, the patella was surrounded and attached by tendons. The insertions of the tendons were of.the same structure which varied a great deal with different ages. Blood vessels and nerves were found in the tendon fibers.An understanding of the presence of the above-mentioned blood vessels and nerves, and the age difference of the end structures is most significant in the study of pathogenesis, pathology and treatment of injuries of the insertions of the patellar tendons.
