Automated Breast Ultrasound and Handheld Ultrasound in Diagnosing Palpation Negative Breast:A Comparative Study

Purpose To explore the difference of breast ultrasound automated breast ultrasound(ABUS)and handheld ultrasound(HHUS)in the diagnosis of palpation negative breast patients.Materials and Methods A total of 428 surgically resected breast lesions from 228 palpation negative breast patients and postoperative pathologically confirmed breast lesions were included,and the differences in detection rate and diagnostic accuracy of ABUS and HHUS were compared.Results The detection rate of ABUS in palpation negative breast patients was higher than that of HHUS(97.2%vs.87.6%,P<0.05).The diagnostic accuracy rate of ABUS and HHUS showed no statistical difference(90.9%vs.86.9%,P>0.05).The sensitivity of ABUS in diagnosing breast malignant tumors with negative palpation was statistically higher than that of HHUS(86.8%vs.51.3%,P<0.05).Conclusion The detection rate of ABUS in breast patients with negative palpation is higher than that of HHUS,but there is no significant difference in diagnostic accuracy.The sensitivity of ABUS in diagnosing breast malignancies with negative palpation is higher than that of HHUS.
