Prenatal Ultrasound Diagnosis of Fetal Intracranial Solid Tumors

Purpose To explore the value of prenatal ultrasound in diagnosing fetal intracranial solid tumors.Materials and Methods Thirteen fetuses pathologically diagnosed as intracranial solid tumors were enrolled in this study,the ultrasound image characteristics and the follow-up results were retrospectively analyzed.Results Among 13 fetuses,11 cases were consistent with the anatomical pathology.The diagnosis coincidence rate was 84.6%,including 4 cases of teratoma,1 case of glioma,2 cases of choroid plexus papilloma,2 cases of tuberous sclerosis and 2 cases of lipoma.One case of ganglionic astrocytoma was misdiagnosed as intracranial hemorrhage;one case of cystic mature teratoma was misdiagnosed as hemangioma.The main ultrasound manifestations of intracranial solid tumors were intracranial space-occupying lesions,mainly solid(11 cases)and mixed cysts and solids(2 cases).The internal echo and blood supply of different lesions were characteristic and showed indirect signs,including midline shift(4 cases)and ventricular dilation(2 cases).Conclusion Prenatal ultrasound can detect the presence or absence of fetal intracranial tumors;according to the characteristics of the internal echo of different tumors and the origin of tumors,suggestive diagnosis can be made by comprehensive analysis.
