Objective]To study the effects of cigarette smoke on fertility of mouse Methods]The pregnancy rates,the embryo development,the number of superovulation oocytes,the meiotic maturation and fertility of mouse oocytes were studied after intraperitoneal injection with water-soluble contents of cigarette smoke (WSCCS) using methods of cell culture and fertilization(IVF) of mouse oocyte in vitro Results]WSCCS could significantly reduce the pregnancy rates,inhibit the embryo development,significantly inhibit the meiotic maturation and the extruding rates of the first polar body and fertilizing rates of mouse oocytes in vitro,as well asdepress the viability of oocytes in vitro The results also showed that the deleterious effects of WSCCS on mouse fertility and the meiotic maturation of mouse oocytes might be reversible,After stopping intruperitoneal injection with WSCCS and inoculating oocytes and zygotes in normal culture,the fertility of mouse and the extruding rates of the first polar body and INF rates obviously increased Conclusion]WSCCS might destroy the oocytes meiosis,reduce the fertility and reproduction ability of female mouse But this toxic effects might disappear and the mouse fertility might be recoverable after stopping smoking
