Effect of soman on peripheral digestive function in rat

Abstract:In order to study effect of soman on peripheral digestive function in rat, the methods for recording myoelectric activity of small intestine and for determining quantity of gastric acid and rate of intestinal absorption on D-glucose and L-tryptophane were used. The experimental results demonstrated that the amplitude of small intestinal myoelectric spiking waves was increased by 36%-50%, the quiescent phase of migrating myoelectric complex (MMC) was shortened by 57%-70%, and the irregular spiking phase of MMC was prolonged by 72%-124% after soman 35 μg·kg-1 im. These effects could be partially prevented by HI-6 10 mg·kg-1 im. The quantity of gastric acid was reduced by 38% after soman 35 μg·kg-1 im. The above mentioned effects of soman lasted about 24-48 h. Soman had no effects on function of absorbing D-glucose and L-tryptophane of small intestine and activity of pepsin.
